Our Major Sabbats are performed in an eclectic wiccan ritual format. Traditionally we honor the God Lugh at Lammas, and symbolically enact his personal sacrifice in the form of the wicker man – an all-vegetable effigy of a man that is filled with offerings of fruits, vegetables, grain, wine and honey that is then offered to the ritual fire as a symbol of gratitude. Nothing of animal origin ever goes in the wicker man.
We understand that giving and receiving are intricately connected spiritual acts. We give the finest offerings to the ritual fire as an act of gratitude for the wonderful things we’ve received in the past year and for what we have yet to receive in the coming year. Because of the public setting for our ceremony, we opted not to use the wicker man and instead offered our fruits directly into the fire.

The Ritual area. This year we elected to do a beach ritual for Lammas so modifications were made to our ceremony because of the lack of privacy.

Temple of the Ninefold Goddess is known for its outstanding drumming. We played these at full volume while some of the ladies belly danced. Our neighbors really liked the performance.

At Lammas, the fire ring is consecrated as an altar into which fruits and vegetables, grain, wine, and honey are offered as gifts of gratitude for the blessings we’ve received in the past year.

These were gifts from the sea that we found along the beach. We decorated our altar with them to honor the spirits of nature and the Ocean Goddess.
